Cab stigmatization around HIV/AIDs and reduce economic vulnerability among AGYW

The Youth Empowerment and Advocacy Hub (YEAH) project implemented by Public Health Ambassadors Uganda (PHAU) directly targeted support for a cohort of vulnerable AGYW both infected and affected with HIV/AIDS without discrimination. With support from AIDS Health Care Foundation (AHF), PHAU identified recruited and trained 50 AGYWs from different parishes in the Makindye division to benefit from this initiative.

Through socio-economic empowerment skills and Health peer education, this cohort has been trained without discrimination. The YEAH initiative has risen hope among youth to cab stigmatization around HIV/AIDs and reduce economic vulnerability among AGYWs in the Makindye division. The project has seen 50 Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYWs) attain more roles and responsibilities in the community as peer educators, from merely community members to youth community leaders of substance and also Skills like tailoring and jewellery have stimulated these AGYWs to elevate from job seekers to Job creators amidst the Covid-19 pandemic social economic hardship.

Despite the achievements, scaling up the YEAH to reach for All is a community cry. As PHAU we extend our sincere gratitude towards AHF for continued support on issues of improving the quality of care and well-being community.
