Assoc. Prof. Rose Clarke Nanyonga

Rose Clarke-Nanyonga (Ph.D.) is a Vice-Chancellor and Associate Professor at Clarke International University (CIU). Dr. Nanyonga is a well-established and inspirational healthcare leader, educator, learner, researcher, nurse, mentor, and global health enthusiast.

She received her education from Arkansas Tech University (BSN, 2002), Baylor University (MSN, 2005), Yale University (Ph.D., 2015) and Whitney and Betty McMillan Center for International Studies at Yale University (Graduate Certificate of Concentration: Global Health, 2015). She is a Jonas Scholar (Yale); Distinguished Alumnae (Yale-2018); and Hall of Distinction Alumnae (ATU-2020).

Dr. Nanyonga is interested in research that explores issues related to Health Systems Strengthening, Management of Chronic Illnesses, Health care and Higher Education Leadership & Policy, and Nursing workforce studies. She is a co-co-Principal Investigator in multiple research studies exploring hypertension care in Uganda and a faculty mentor—Health Professions Education and training for strengthening the health system and services in Uganda Study (NIH Grant No. 1R25TW011213).

Dr. Nanyonga is the founder of the Rose’s Journey Scholarship Fund—established to support and increase the number of nurses with baccalaureate degrees in Uganda. She serves on numerous boards including Public Health Ambassodors Uganda, Mengo Hospital Board, TATU Nurse, REMI East Africa, The Sinza Project, and is passionate about enabling young people through thought and value-oriented leadership.

She believes that nurses are great leaders and as such, should be able to dream, inspire and enable others to achieve better results.
