Youth to Host Dialogue on Health Sector Financing

Youth from Public Health Ambassadors Uganda(PHAU) in partnership with Youth Equality Centre(YEC) are convening an online dialogue on Health financing meeting. This is to engage Youth stakeholders especially on Alternative models of Health sector Budget financing focusing on Universal Health Coverage. Expect key panelists that will interact with youth and share their perspectives on Health financing .

The National pre-budget engagements are envisaged to provide a platform where young people can analyze and draw important views on the 2020/21 National Budget.

This will inform stakeholders on opportunities for youth as presented in the current budget and priority investment areas for the subsequent budgeting process.

It is from this background that YEC in partnership with PHAU with support from Women Deliver and the Dutch Government through the Right Here Right Now program and other key actors including CSBAG, would like to give youth an opportunity to analyze the proposed ministerial Budget policy statements in order to make sense out of them as well as validate a youth response position paper/ policy Brief.

This will inform youth engagements on the post budget discussions and set priorities for the subsequent budget processes with emphasis to the health sector. 

Objectives of the dialogue on health sector financing:

i)To present and validate a youth analysis paper of financing SRHR in the National Budget. 

ii)To develop a youth response paper on the 2020/21 national budget, from which a press release will be developed to inform a wider range of youth in the country. 

iii)To generate views on Alternative Models of Financing the Health Sector in Uganda towards Universal Health Coverage – UHC.  

Public Health Ambassadors Uganda(PHAU) in partnership with Youth Equality Centre(YEC) are convening a virtual Youth Health financing meeting.

Health Sector Financing Dialogue outcomes: 

●Youth oriented on the developed Budget Advocacy Road-map. This is to support their engagement into broader issue based Budget advocacy activities for 2020/21.

 ●Increased knowledge among the Young people on the 2020/2021 Budget and skills development in budget analysis.  

●A Budget Response and policy briefing Position paper developed jointly by Young people. This will be shared with the Ministry of Finance, Parliament and the Ministry of Health for inclusion of young people’e priority actions into the 2020 Budget.   

●Developed press release/Budget Response paper to inform youth deliberations on the budget and set priorities for the subsequent budgeting processes.
